Senior Business Analyst

Job Purpose

The Senior Business Analyst-ICT will work with both internal and external business stakeholders to identify, justify, document and support the development and implementation of quality business solutions that are aligned to the strategic objectives of Land Services SA (LSSA) and Relational Data Systems (RDS).

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Senior Business Analyst-ICT will be responsible for the following

  • Directing and supporting Junior LSSA Business Analyst resources to undertake analysis activities in line with agreed analysis approaches.
  • Identify, create and facilitate requirements elicitation by conducting business and systems process analysis and design at a complex level; identifying business needs; focusing on quality improvement and data management; developing process improvements or re-engineering and recommending elimination; and partnering with internal and external customers to ensure requirements are aligned with the long-term business strategies.
  • Provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships within Project Teams and key stakeholders.
  • Developing and documenting business cases and funding requests/project briefs to justify strategic initiatives in accordance with the LSSA Project Management Framework.
  • Provide advanced project level analysis – producing required project analysis documentation (This includes but is not limited to business/system requirements, end user requirements and process modelling).
  • Developing and maintaining and promoting LSSA analysis templates and tools.
  • Ensure project business analysis artefacts that are produced either internally or by external parties meet LSSA standards.
  • Participating / and where applicable directing the development and execution of test plans and training activities.
  • Assisting concurrently on multiple projects while working closely with the LSSA ICT Team and development resources.
  • Supporting the development of project plans including estimation and reporting activities.
  • Timely reporting of issues that impact project progress, coordinating actions and resolving conflicts.
  • Work in project environments as directed by the Senior Project Manager.

Key Capabilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven Senior Business Analysis experience and advanced relevant documentation skills
  • Demonstrated fluency in business processes and process differentiation and demonstrated ability to analyse and synthesise business requirements, including recognizing patterns and conceptualising processes
  • Experience in managing key stakeholders and exceptional client management skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft applications (such as Visio and MS Project)
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Proven ability to work under broad directions in determining goals and priorities, measuring and improving performance outcomes

Special Conditions

  • Must be prepared to work outside normal business hours from time to time.
  • Interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
  • Satisfactory National Police Clearance Check
